Special Needs Foundation
Granting the needs of special needs children
Welcome to the Special Needs Foundation website and thank you for your interest in our program.

Special Needs Foundation is in the process of applying for the non-profit documents that are required by the state. We will be a non-profit program that focuses on improving the lives of special needs children and their families. Children with special needs include those with disabilities and medical conditions. We want to help children, regardless of condition and needs. Some of the conditions may include, but will not be limited to children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Mowat Wilson Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Aspergers, and Neurological Brain Disorder. Our program's goal and dream is to provide children with special needs the items that they need for their daily living and enjoyment that are not currently being covered by their insurance, nor provided by a community program . Along with this goal, we hope to have a facility that where children with special needs and their families can come for free counseling, free supplemental therapy, meet with support groups, for information, and many other services. We trust that together with other community programs and especially parents, we can create an awareness among the community about the needs family with special needs children have.

Through our personal experience and that of other families we have met in the same predicament, we have come to understand the financial challenges that may present themselves when trying to meet all the needs of a child with special needs. Currently, we spend approximately $460 a month on
Kaitlyn's milk, baby food, medicine,  and diapers; this does not include visits to the doctors, hospital, and any extra medication needed if she gets sick. There are other families who have reported to spend more than this a amount a month. We want to provide assistance with some of these financial challenges by giving families that meet the criteria, some of the items that are needed to meet their child's needs.

Research has demonstrated that when children are provided the  adequate tools they need for their unique skills and ability, they can fully  enhance their  cognitive, social, and emotional development. The need for these tools are even more crucial among children with disabilities and medical conditions (special needs).   Early and continual intervention are powerful tools that can enable children with special needs to live a more full and active life. Most insurance companies do not cover the items, nor the intensive therapy needed by these children. Many states have some wonderful programs that help with therapy and some items, but the number of children with special needs is rising so rapidly that many of them are placed on a waiting lists. We ourselves were told a couple months ago, that we were being added to a waiting list and we have to wait six years to get some help with Kaitlyn's needs. The fear that many parents and caregivers have is that children may be missing opportunities that can impact the child's future and success. Therefore, it is important to us to help parents and/or guardians obtain these tools when they are unable to do it on their own.  To create opportunities that can better equip and develop a child with special needs.

Special Needs Foundation aims to not only provide assistance with items needed, but to also create a community of support, encouragement, and guidance through our website and one day our facility. We intend to develop a healthy relationship with other non-profit and for profit programs in our community to better guide families in obtaining the resources available to them.

I Hope You Dance

The song playing in the website is very special to me and to Kaitlyn. I dedicated this song to Kaitlyn when she was in my womb and used to play it for her. I used to tell people that the words in this song were words that I wanted to share with Kaitlyn for encouragement.
